Final Course Analysis

BLOG 12

This course has taught me a lot about my writing techniques and styles that i prefer to write and ones I do not prefer. I took the comments given to me very seriously over this course, and really took time to fix the things that i had missed.

Comments from Professor Vincent:

In my first paper — Social media addiction, I think I did pretty well on my first draft. One comment that was left was in the Proposed solution section and said “Develop this section further. Who will help children achieve this balance? Add sources to support this solution. Address the consequences and implications of this proposed solution.” I took this comment and did exactly that, developed it further. I hadn’t talked enough about the way society could fix this issue.

Another comment I found very helpful was in the Media Literacy Analysis (Paper 2). It said “Work on tying all of this information on cultural values and meanings directly to the ads you’re analyzing. Interpretation should build off themes developed in analysis section to address cultural meanings of the ads. Also should be developing a larger argument about the ads at this point.” My paper need to talk more about the different cultural backgrounds and this also helped me understand where i went wrong.

I honestly found every comment to be helpful and those were the two that I believe helped my papers become stronger.

Comments from Peer Reviewers:

There were many comments that did not help my editing process because they were very vauge. A lot of “great job”s and “nothing to fix here.” These are the comments that people rush through and do not care to help as much.

Comments I did find very helpful were the ones that told me to fix my grammar at points. This is my favorite comment to get because I would never realize i said something a little off if it wasn’t for others being able to read and comment on.

Throughout this course, I learned a lot about my writing style. I learned I really enjoy writing but i have a tough time following and writing about literature reviews and having to find multiple. I believe my writing has become more grammatically correct — more of a college level tone rather than just writing nonsense.
