Auto biography of Eidhi sahab

Edhi sahib belonged to a very humble family and farmer society. They belonged to a momin family also called Memons. His grandfather Haji Rehmatullah was a humanitarian by birth. He did not believe in making money also he was a down to earth person. Edhi sahib’s father Abdul shakoor edhi also got the same temperament and worked as a commission agent in Bombay, later on he worked in HABIB BANK.Their family members were given high ranked posts in memon business and local posts to common people. Edhi sahib got two brothers and one sister from their step mother. Edhi sahib’s mother Ghubra belonged to a very respected family called Deevan family. She also got divorce after a very tragic marriage.He lived in an area called Dhobi barrah (named after a washerman) in a small village called Bantva in Junagarh GUJRAT where 70% of Memons live.Mostly people lived in a joint family there.Her sister died of fever after being disappointed from Ahmedabad and Junagarh Hospitals.

They moved to another Muhallah in Bantva and they faced very difficult life living in a small house and sharing an open washroom.His mother started saving money in a utensil there.He used to play with his friends in school the different childhood games.His mother used to give him two paisas one for himself and other for poor and needy people later she also inquired about that paisa.His mother was also a noble woman she used to help other woman in bantva.Edhi sahb and his mother helped people in different ways(providing food and medicines to needy,helping women in child birth,serving people in emergencies,helping handicapped people,dealing with the flooded people and corpses after an accident etc).He never felt that he missed school while helping people.His will power was very strong for helping others. Edhi sahib never fought with others until and unless someone teased a handicapped or weak.His mother used to wash his wounds and sometimes praise him for doing good deeds.He used to offer prayers and fast on regular basis. Even he had to wait for the next prayer call in mosque. He left school in class four due to a tragedy that happened with him.Then he came to know about human exploitation after facing that incident.At 11,he started a job in cloth market and he had to sell clothes while seth (owner) made him a trusted one to deal with. His mother observed pardah strictly and he invested all the savings of her mother by purchasing some shares fom seth.

One day he saw an injured man in front of a platform he thought of helping him.He asked her mother to provide medication,bread, blanket and some clothes to wear.after healing the man told them to condemn dowery and he said it’s the destruction of society and taught them many things.After serving 21 days the man vanished from the mosque.His sister’s marriage was simple.The 1st film he watched was pukaar.After the incident of watching movie he thought “ what I will be”.He used to spent time in washroom to think and figure out things. His dreams were small but actually too big for him. He started selling pencils and match boxes in streets.He used to save half of money and spent the rest on needy and poor.He always reminded himself to start with small things and make them big with his efforts.There was gender as well as wealth discrimination when edhi started learning and figuring out things by himself.He could only read gujrati but he tried to learn things and facts on his own.He started thinking about the differences in theory and being practical.He visited library to know about the tradegy of “karbala”.He came to know that all the social evils in society are due to one reason that people usually escape from them they do not like to talk about those things.

Although his father performed Hajj but he was not so religious person. He used to say why you confuse people with the things you yourself can’t understand. The good thing to learn for me was that don’t pray to God with long prayers just show HIM your faith otherwise why should he believe you. Memon families are simple and like cleanliness and simplicity.once in his life he thought he has fallen His parents kept him away from ordinary matters.After hindu muslim disputes his father urged people for migration process as they were not saved from hindus in the continent.Edhi sahib believed that God has sent human and gave him intellect to solve mankind problems.My favourite saying of edhi sahib is that If u don’t have anything good to give someone give them nothing but don’t use God’s favours against them who had received none.

2. Activity: Just start Project

I attended resolution day ceremony where few people are invited to celebrate and recall the promises of resolution day with vice chancellor.

Steps:

1.it was a difficult task to attend university when all students are free and enjoying. And there is a holiday in university but you still have to attend the official ceremony.

2.but i managed to reach university at 8:30 am.

3.it was a spiritual ceremony that i attended with an amal fellow.

4.it was a great exposure to attend such ceremonies because in past years i couldn’t attend such functions full of patriotism and enthusiasm.
