5 Tips for Preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse

The zombie apocalypse has come and gone and you survived it. That’s great news! But now you have to live in the aftermath, which can be just as dangerous as walking around cities filled with the undead. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some tips to help you survive and thrive in this new reality.

1) Create a safe haven
Do you live in an apartment with a balcony? Is your office on the third floor of an office building? Does your home have windows that don’t open and doors that are hard to break through? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may have a safe haven! The following tips will show you how to turn your safe haven into a zombie-proof fortress.

2) Stock up on supplies
The best way to prepare is to stock up on supplies. This includes food, water, medicine and other supplies that you’ll need. Make sure you have enough gas in your car so that you can get out of town when things start getting dicey. Be sure to have a bug-out bag with clothes, cash and any important documents you might need. Make sure your house is secured with locks on all doors and windows, as well as motion sensors outside your home.

3) Learn self-defense
It’s no secret that zombies are pretty dangerous. If you’re going to survive a zombie apocalypse, you’ll need to know how to handle yourself in a tight situation. A lot of people think that it’s just about fighting and killing zombies, but if you want to make it out alive then you’ll also need to know how to get away from them as well. Your best option is learning self-defense techniques so that when a zombie does come at you all of your focus isn’t on killing him or her — it’s on getting away from them. You may not be able to fight your way through every attack; escape and evasion might be the better strategy.

4) Have a plan
With zombies, it’s never too early to start preparing. What type of plan? There are a few different types of plans that are helpful in a zombie apocalypse. The first is called Z-Plan and includes items like guns, canned food, bottled water, and clothes made out of cotton that are all easy to find in your neighborhood. The second is called W-Plan which includes items like wood, nails, matches and gasoline that you may need to go outside of your neighborhood in order to find them.

5) Keep calm and carry on
The zombie apocalypse seems like a pretty scary thought, but there are some things you can do to prepare. You should get your family together and talk about what would happen if the zombies came. Who would go where? What would you need? Where is it safe? These are important questions to answer before it happens so that when it does happen, everyone knows what their plan of action is.
