Introducing Where the Truck

Announcing the launch of Alexa-as-a-Service for food truck owners and organizers of food truck events

Eating at food trucks is fun, but finding their whereabouts can be a pain.

Fans of food trucks will well understand this problem: You’re in the mood for one of your favorite food trucks but you don’t know where they’re parked today. You can search their website for an event calendar (and hope they have one), or look on all their social media feeds (and hope it’s even there). More often than not, you need to click and scroll more than you’d like to find the info you need.

That will get you the location and serving times for one truck, but what if you want options? What if you want to know where a cluster of trucks will be parked today for lunch? What if you need options because one of your squad needs gluten-free items and another wants vegan offerings? Do you search for trucks one at a time, or do you all search separately and hope to find a venue with an assortment of trucks you can all agree upon?

As hangry food truck fans throughout history have said: There’s got to be a better way.

Where the Truck will ask you for a ZIP Code to use as its search locus and will tell you all the participating food trucks near you. The skill will remember your ZIP Code next time you use it, unless you update it by giving Where the Truck a new ZIP Code to search. Where the Truck does not store your information nor does it access the address (or any other info) connected with your Amazon account.

And remember that you don’t even need an Amazon-purchased device (Echo, Echo Dot, Fire TV remote, Fire TV Cube, Fire tablet) to ask Alexa — she’s already in your phone.

Let’s face it, food truck owners are micro-operations, operating at small margins. They don’t have the time or the capital to update several social media accounts every day or, worse, purchase ads. What they need is a solution for a small monthly subscription that can help them move the needle and reach the demographic they’re cooking for.

Take a listen to the demo above and give us a spin. We’d also love to hear your feedback. Reach us at hello@wherethetruck.is.
